Aya Takano is a Japanese artist associated with the Superflat movement, famously popularized by Takashi Murakami. Her work emphasizes two-dimensionality of form while exposing the fetishes of Japanese consumerism. She reexamines otaku culture by exploring its objectification of women through a new, female perspective.
